Rumors and leaks about the upcoming iPhone 17 series suggest a significant shake-up in Apple’s smartphone lineup. Expected to be announced on September 9, with a release date of September 19, the new series is rumored to replace the “Plus” model with a new, more affordable “iPhone 17 Air” option.
Pricing could also see a change for the first time since the iPhone 12, with a potential price increase for the base iPhone 17 Pro. However, this model is also rumored to come with a doubled storage capacity of 256GB. The new iPhone 17 Air is expected to be priced around $900, offering a different price point for consumers.
In terms of design, the iPhone 17 is rumored to bring back curved edges and feature a larger camera bump that spans the entire width of the devices. The Pro models are likely to retain the titanium frame, but with a new rectangular camera bar and a smaller Dynamic Island cutout.
Camera and battery performance are also expected to receive major upgrades. The iPhone 17 Pro is rumored to include a new “meta-lens” for improved Face ID and potentially a mechanical aperture system. A more power-efficient A19 chip is anticipated to boost battery life, and a new adhesive technology could make battery replacements much simpler for the entire lineup.
