Spotify is launching a new feature called “Smart Filters” designed to help users organize their music libraries more effectively. The new tool allows Premium subscribers to quickly sort their saved music, playlists, podcasts, and audiobooks by activity, genre, or mood.
The feature addresses a common issue for users with large libraries, making it easier to find the right content for a specific moment. When a user taps the new filter icon in their library, a menu appears with options such as “Workout,” “Chill,” “Jazz,” or “Commute,” which then reorders the saved content to match the selected filter.
“Smart Filters” is seen as a way for Spotify to enhance the user experience and drive deeper engagement. The company is also integrating the filters with its AI DJ feature, allowing users to start a new, personalized AI session directly from a filtered view of their library.
The feature is currently rolling out to Premium users on mobile and tablet devices in select countries, including the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and South Africa.
