Xiaomi is reportedly developing HyperOS 4 as its next major software step, aiming to gradually replace remaining MIUI-era code and move toward a more independent, custom-built software stack.
According to the latest details, Xiaomi plans to swap parts of older, legacy system frameworks with native, in-house frameworks designed to improve long-term maintainability, deeper ecosystem integration, and tighter control over core system behavior.
A key focus for HyperOS 4 is expected to be deeper system-level AI integration. Instead of limiting AI features to standalone apps, Xiaomi is likely to embed its own AI model more broadly across the UI and underlying services, potentially impacting resource management, personalization, and smarter task handling.
This direction aligns with Xiaomi’s broader push toward technology localization and vertical integration. The company has been expanding its in-house capabilities, and the introduction of the XRING O1 chipset has been seen as a strong signal of that strategy.
Based on current expectations, HyperOS 4 could arrive around August 2026, likely rolling out first to newer flagship devices and then expanding gradually across Xiaomi’s wider device lineup.
