Apple has released the fifth developer beta for iOS 26, just two weeks after beta 4. Labeled with build number 23A5308g, this update is available to users enrolled in the iOS Beta Software Program. To install, users must navigate to Settings > General > Software Update on their iPhones.
While the official changelog remains vague, each beta brings users closer to the stable release of iOS 26 expected in the coming weeks. As Apple inches toward finalizing the update, testers continue to find clues hidden in the system files and minor UI changes.
Possible Apple Watch Ultra 3 Clue in Beta Files
A discovered image in beta 5 reveals a resolution of 422 x 514 pixels—slightly higher than the Apple Watch Ultra 2’s 410 x 502 resolution. If the Apple Watch Ultra 3 keeps the same 1.92-inch screen size, the pixel density would rise to 344.58 ppi, up from 335.83 ppi.
On the other hand, if Apple maintains the same pixel density, it would suggest a larger 1.98-inch screen—a 3.1% increase. However, this could simply be placeholder content and not directly tied to an upcoming device.
Subtle UI Enhancements and Music App Refresh
The new beta also introduces small but noticeable UI improvements, including a splash screen refresh for Apple Music, Journal, and Notes. Users editing their home screen will spot a new “liquid glass” look around the minus symbol, enhancing the visual appeal.
Another update lies in the Camera app, which now offers a fresh mode switcher at the bottom. For those who prefer the old layout, a “Classic Mode Switching” tab allows users to toggle back to the previous format.
Battery Optimization and Notifications
Users with Adaptive Power enabled now receive notifications when iOS automatically tweaks performance to save battery. This includes actions like lowering brightness or slowing background activities when usage spikes.
This feature isn’t new, but the notification system is. It helps users understand how their device is managing power in real-time, adding a layer of transparency to iOS’s battery-saving tools.
Control Center Animation and New Share Sheet
In Control Center, Apple has made some subtle animation tweaks—boxes now have a bouncy feel when you swipe down. There’s also a redesigned Share Sheet and a new AirDrop icon, refreshing familiar tools with a slightly more modern aesthetic.
