After years of waiting, Samsung might finally be addressing one of its most frustrating shortcomings — slow wireless charging. According to a new report from ET News, the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra is set to feature 25W wireless charging, marking the company’s first upgrade in this area in more than five years. This move would bring Samsung closer to rivals like Apple and Google, both of which already offer faster 25W Qi 2.2 wireless charging on their latest flagship devices.
For comparison, the Galaxy S25 Ultra supports only 15W wireless charging, which has long been criticized as outdated. The new leak suggests that while the S26 Ultra will get 25W speeds, the standard Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus will see a bump to 20W. Additionally, all three models are rumored to include built-in magnets compatible with Qi 2.2 accessories — similar to Apple’s MagSafe system — enabling users to snap chargers and other accessories magnetically onto the phone.
Samsung is also said to be developing faster wireless charging for its Galaxy Z foldable lineup, though technical challenges like heat management may delay implementation. Even with the upgrades, Samsung still trails behind Chinese manufacturers that have already reached 50W or higher in wireless charging speeds.
Beyond charging, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to include a refreshed design with softer, rounder edges, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, and a more efficient, brighter display. With wired charging speeds expected to reach 60W, this next-gen flagship could offer one of Samsung’s biggest leaps in performance and convenience in years. The Galaxy S26 series is expected to debut in early 2026, possibly between January and February, and fans are already eager to see whether Samsung’s long-awaited improvements will finally pay off.
